I dislike math ( to say the least ) but I thought this was really cool! 

1 x 8 + 1 = 9 
12 x 8 + 2 = 98 
123 x 8 + 3 = 987 
1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876

123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654

Apple or PC

So when I replace Papa Bear Computer, soon out of warranty and, at age four, limping along in many regards, do you recommend that I get a Mac? Are there any downsides or inconveniences that are likely to annoy me?

Also, Sidney needs a new laptop and is begging for a . . . MacBook? iBook? NoteApple? FujiBook? GrannySmithTablet? Whatever it is, it’s certainly more $ than a PC, so I don’t want to take the plunge without being confident that it will last her a LONG time. (like five years!) It needs to go all the way through college. What do you think? Is yours a laptop?

Yes, I have a MacBook Pro (haha… “GrannySmith tablet”) Laptop. It’s amazing. 
It’s so worth the extra $$ because:

1. Mac’s do not get viruses! so.. .it will not slow down over time. 
2. It’s creatively accommodating. For instance.. I use my Mac for work (editing.. putting news stories together… etc.)
3. It’s wonderful if you like to do anything creative on the computer. Like edit pictures.. build an amazing itunes library…etc. 

And it will for sure last Sidney though college!
